Transitions Management Coaching

Executive Coaching for Board Chairs,
Committee Chairs and CEOs

This is a strengths-based and affirming program that helps individual leaders clarify how they may unintentionally sabotage their own and their organization’s efforts. 

This process can begin with an intensive JumpStart Visioning Program followed by individual coaching meetings. The benefit of one-on-one coaching includes significantly increased awareness about oneself and one’s environment, and an enhanced ability to communicate expectations and to clarify roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities. This process can be supplemented with a Discovery Dialogue, Real-Time Coaching, Surveys, and Negotiated Expectations Meetings with the leader and their key stakeholders.

JumpStart Visioning Program

Consists of a one- to three-day coaching and training meeting with one executive. This program is usually conducted within the first 30 days of the executive coaching relationship. The purpose of this meeting is to exponentially enhance a leader’s self-awareness and self-knowledge. Through assessment tests, coaching, and exercises, clients gain new awareness about their communication styles, gifts and gaps, values, and vision for their lives and their organizations.

 

Individual Coaching

Individual Coaching is a strengths-based and affirming program that helps individual leaders clarify how they may have unintentionally sabotaged their own efforts.

This process begins with an intensive JumpStart program followed by individual coaching meetings.  The benefit of one-on-one coaching includes significantly increased awareness about oneself and one's environment and a significantly enhanced ability to communicate expectations and to clarify roles, responsibilities and accountabilities.  This process can be supplemented with Real-Time Coaching, Feedback Surveys, and Negotiated Expectations Meetings with the leader and their key stakeholders.

 

Key Elements for Teams

Team Transformation Program

Often our clients, after having an experience of executive coaching for themselves, desire to engage their leadership team in using the same methodology to create quantum leap results.  This ongoing program, typically 6-12 months in length, involves a variety of customized components.  Each program begins with individual one-on-one coaching sessions for each team member to establish rapport and the 1-2 Day, off-site Team Quantum Leap Program.  After completion of those components, the Team will continue to meet for group coaching and training at least monthly in two, four or eight-hour increments. These sessions focus on building the culture of accountability, managing commitments, building and enhancing trust, and raising the teams' awareness of themselves and their environment.  This ongoing coaching ensures that each member and the group as a whole internalize the principles learned.  Therefore, the quantum leap results are sustainable over time, regardless of the circumstances in which the team is operating and the addition and subtraction of key team members.

 

Negotiated Expectation Meetings

Because of the fast-paced environments in which we work, members of the same team can start to function at cross-purposes. This can result in chaos, confusion, or just repeated delays, missed commitments, and re-work. As a result, the entire team can be negatively impacted. Working with two or more key members of the same team, The Halpin Companies, Inc. meets with this small group in a series of Negotiated Expectation Meetings. In these meetings, shared values are documented, common goals are identified so that each client not only achieves his or her coaching results, but also that the individual coaching relationships work synergistically toward achieving the desired shared outcomes for the entire team. 

The purpose of these meetings is to build powerful partnerships among these team members so that regardless of what operational or strategic challenges emerge, the team members have a genuine, simple-to-use, systematic approach to resolving these challenges quickly, easily, and in a manner that positively impacts the rest of the team. 

As a result of these Negotiated Expectations Meetings among key team players, the entire team will grow in their ability to confront the brutal facts, tell the truth in the moment, and talk about what’s working and what’s not working, all in a safe, comfortable, supportive, and empowered team environment. 

The outcome of these meetings will be an enhanced ability of the team members to strategize, prioritize, and complete goals and objectives in a far more timely and effective manner for the team.

 

Step Up or Step Out Program

Are you concerned about the performance or lack of results from your colleagues? Are you spending too much time and energy dealing with employee performance issues within the organization? Here is a program specifically designed for Senior Leaders who want to obtain rapid results from their colleagues. This program will assist you in improving the performance of all employees, or quickly having them self-select out of the organization. This process works with employees at all levels within the organization. The benefits are that 90% of your colleagues will step up and work harder and take more initiative and ownership. Poor performers who do not want to step up will soon self-select out of the organization with their dignity intact.


 

Executive Coaching
Partners in Coaching

Consists of a series of feedback survey interviews with the client’s immediate supervisor (including Board Chair if client is a CEO) and other interested parties to provide a different perspective about the client (other than the client’s and the coach’s perspective).This process elevates both the client’s and their supervisor’s understanding of expectations about the client’s role and responsibilities. It provides for even more extraordinary coaching results.

 

Real Time Executive Coaching

Consists of a one-day coaching and training meeting with one executive and one coach at the participant’s location. The client picks a representative day in his or her schedule and the coach shadows the client for the entire day. Real-time feedback is provided on issues of performance and communication styles. The coach summarizes the day by providing a list of observations and suggestions for improvement in efficiency and effectiveness.
 

Just-In-Time Coaching

Consists of telephone coaching meetings between one executive and their coach on an as-needed basis. Typically occurs after some period of coaching where “gaps” have been identified and closed. Long-time coaching clients typically move towards this program for ongoing support and maintenance and periodic opportunities to re-focus and re-balance..
 


Discovery Dialogue

A discovery dialogue engages an organization in understanding the underlying reasons for problems indicated by raw data such as that found on surveys or in personal observations and experiences. Such raw data often indicates a problem in a way that suggests only superficial solutions. A discovery dialogue includes a combination of confidential one-on-one interviews, small group meetings, e-mail interviews, phone discussions, and skilled observation. It results in a summary of “problem definitions,” which is used as a springboard for creating on-target interventions.  These interventions typically result in enhanced role clarity, additional structures and disciplines to align people with processes and purpose, and significantly improved strategic decision making.

Team Transformation Program
